dance genres
Modern
Modern helps develop excellent technique, from turns to kicks, while improving rhythm and timing, posture, performance skills, flexibility, confidence, creativity, strength and teamwork skills. It encompasses jazz and lyrical styles of dance, making it a wonderfully varied genre. At Elastic, we use a range of music to broaden the experience and keep the work fresh.
Ballet
A wonderful genre for building strength, stamina, poise, flexibility, balance, coordination, artistry, musicality and more. Ballet benefits other dance styles beautifully and is fantastic for improving all-round performance (so much so, footballers and rugby players are taking it up!). We proudly follow the ISTD syllabus.
Contemporary
For contemporary, we follow the Rambert Grades, allowing the students freedom of expression, space for creativity and developing essential technique. The students will enjoy guided improvisation and exercises/ dances that build throughout the term. They will benefit from the freedom to explore, create, express and discover. Classes based around year group.
Jazz
These are non-syllabus classes focused around developing strong technique, conditioning, nurturing physical and mental well-being and making new connections. The students work on fun routines that build throughout the term. For existing students seeking extra training and also suitable for those new to dance. For students aged 6 - teens.
Musical Theatre
These classes are perfect for those who like to sing, dance and act. The students will develop their voices, and learn routines that combine song and dance. These will be pieces from the West End, and also the teacher’s own arrangement/ choreography. Many students take ballet, modern and musical theatre on Saturdays, as a package.
